Quick question about google images

Hello guys. I downloaded an image of a sword from google, I made an exact copy of it in blender and used the image as a texture. Now is it ok to use it in a game if I want to publish it in the future? Its not a sword from a game or anything. Its just a simple pic of samurai sword. If it is not ok, do I have to buy textures somewhere, because sure as hell I cant draw.

Technically no, you’d have to check with the source to see if you could use it. But most of the time it’s not an issue. Unless it’s something that the owner would want to take credit for, then most of the time people don’t even bother with enforcing that type of thing.

Ok so the image was put on Google from here http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/samurai-sword-wielding-tenant-who-terrorised-290681.
Now how do I know if its ok? Ty for an answer!

May I suggest Wiki Commons… Wikimedia Commons
as those pics have given up their “rights” and are for everyone to use… http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Katana
even then feel free to add your own touch to anything you use reference for to make it your own avoiding any issues…
Good luck yo…

Cool Thanks!

When searching for pictures with Google you can use the search tools to limit searches to pictures you are allowed to use.
Also, usually people use textures from various sites dedicated to this, for texturing objects, you don’t need to paint by hand unless you want that painted look.
