Quick question about foliage!

Hey peoples!

I was just wondering how I would go about having foliage that moves in my level.
I would like it to act as if it were being blown in the wind and move when the player runs through it.
I was thinking of rigging it and animating it but then I thought that’s maybe not the best way to go because It would take forever and I’m not sure if the foliage painter tool works with skeletal meshes and even if it did I would want to use the randomise rotation which would mean all the animations wouldn’t be playing in the same direction.

So what I’m thinking is maybe using cloth and making it quite rigid? Would this have a big impact on performance as I plan on having quite a lot of foliage?
Or is there a better way of doing foliage that reacts?

Thanks!

You do that in your material:

Take a look at this thread: https://forums.unrealengine/showthread.php?3268-Nature-Environment-in-UE4 It’s pretty useful for foliage stuff

Ahhh awesome!

Thanks dude!
