Quick Q: How many Spine bones does the UE4 mannequin have?

I am using Auto Rig Pro “presets” to generate a Rig.
They have a UE4 preset with 4 spine bones (but usually I manually set it to 3).

Yet I only see 3 named spine in the official UE4 skel.

So 1) Does UE4 count Pelvis as a type of Spine (1+3=4)?
2) Should I pick 3 or 4 Spine bones for ARP? (it wont generate a bone named Pelvis, but if I choose 4, it would generate 4 “spine” bones - which UE would import as 3 spine plus the Pelvis?)

(When I export out of Blender, I will use ARP’s rename to UE bone structure. So I need to know if I should choose 3 or 4 spines to generate the rig for Weight painting.)

Thank you.

What is your prurpose?

Personal use = dont use the epic skeleton at all.

Marketplace = use the exact skeleton.

  • I think Marketplace.
  • But it’s already modded from UE4 pure - I added hair bones.
I already bought Market anims. So eventually I want to retarget those anims to my Mesh/character in Blender. (I had bad experiences retargetting in UE4, ruined some projects. So ill do it in Blender to be safe.)

But if I can do that with just 3 spines, id rather keep 3.

Also Im working with Mixamo anims as my main retargets. I think Mixamo skel only has 3 spines?

Also in Blender > ARP > I checked the UE4 preset = 4 spines. But after Rigging, it only shows 3 spines + root anyways. So is that a bug, or it counts Root as a spine?
