Quick Fix for Photo Matching

So I've just found a way to do photo matching for TM. I'm on windows but the same method would probably work on Mac too with the right software. You will need 2 small apps: Glass2k and PowerToys. Glass2k can be found here - it is a small helper app that lets you make any window transparent. PowerToys can be found on the Microsoft store and is an app with multiple tools in one. The tool you will use inside the app is Always on Top.

So open the photo you are taking as a reference, make it transparent using glass2k (ctrl+shift+a number from 1-9) and then use powertoys always on top to pin it on top of all windows. You can then select your TM window and play with the angle of your camera until you find the right match.

Nice, creative thinking! Thank you.

Fortunately, my Nvidia Desktop manager allows me to set window transparency, so there's no need for the Glass2k app.

Even better is to make TM the transparent overlay, which then doesn't need powertoys to keep it in focus for mouse navigation.

Thats actually even better, thanks for the addition!

@Emre Senoglu There is another application that does all that in one package as well.

While waiting for an alignment implementation from Epic, we are using PureRef to set a overlay reference similar to what you showed.

You can set:

  • Always on top
  • Transparent to mouse
  • "Overlay mode" which lets you transform the image overlay manually to match your twinmotion camera window.
  • You can set the overall transparency of the PureRef window in settings.

It's main purpose is for managing reference photos, so it's a good package even without using it for alignment.

Unfortunately, there is no photomatching in TM yet.

You have to do tricks, which is not good.

Need a well-functioning photo matching function so that you don't have to do tricks.....
