Question: how i can assemble multiple textures or multiple materials in a 'single material

hello guys, i’m currently using daz chracters in my project and while i do love then i also have a big issue with then which is how the "character texture/material is handled, daz use "multiple texture zones, you have one for face, one for body, one for arms one for legs and others places like fingernails, eyes and toenails, then its make "a lot of materials and i’m working on a “character customization system”, then having to group all that materials inside the "customization blueprint would be a lot troublesome.

then my question is if unreal have anyway for me to or assign all the textures to a single material and be able to apply this single material to all the “zones” without it get broken or if unreal have a way were i create all the materials normally then after that i could create a sort of instance material or other material were i could throw all that others materials and apply this single "instanced or not material to the characters???

here’s some pictures of what i’m trying to say:

have anyway inside unreal for me to group all that textures or materials in a single one and apply this one to all the "materials zones and use this “single material” to work in my customization or the only way for me is really go photoshop and maya/blender and in the hard way merge all the uvs in a single one and go photoshop and edit texture to mix in a single one or any one know a proper tool which would do that work???

If I’m not mistaken, this looks like a UDIM set.

UE4 has support for UDIMs when used with virtual texturing.

it’s looks interesting i will give a try on that but would love to see more options if possible.

I think you’re better off building a “character material collection” blueprint, and make your character have a function to “set character material collection.”
The character would then loop through all materials in its mesh/composition, and look for materials in the collection that match (for example, by name.)

I haven’t released a version with this feature yet, but the plugin will now create parent materials for each sub object. For instance, you’ll have one parent material for the body, one for the hair, and one for each piece of clothing. Any common settings will be set on that parent material instead, so you can bulk modify those settings. If you’ve purchased it already, send me an email and I’ll get you a beta version of the next release so you can try it out.
