Publishing Blocked by Active A/B Test After Map Was Unpublished

Summary

Hello,

I just got a map unpublished by epic, and had an AB testing going on.
To get my map back I can republish an unpublished release since it says “This island is unpublished and players can’t find it. To republish, create a new release, or publish a different release from your unpublished releases.”

But when I try to publish a new release I’m getting the error “Submission for Publishing Failed” “errors.com.epicgames.creator-portal-api.active_ab_test”.

When I try to select a thumbnail from the ab testing of the last release that got unpublished, I get the error: Link - “mapcode” is disabled SentryEventId= …

Which makes the publishing completely blocking

Epic games Support isn’t helping either and redirecting me there, this is really blocking … If needed I can give the sentry error, but it clearly tells that it’s because of the AB testing

hi @lookum
Here is the documentation which may help you with the problems
A/B Thumbnail Testing in Fortnite Creative | Fortnite Documentation | Epic Developer Community

Hi thanks a lot for your answer

Unfortunately this doesn’t work either:

The map has been taken down by Epic moderation, to republish it I have to create a new release but I’m stuck with that… And if I try to select a thumbnail I get this error:

hi @lookum
The problem is that the Thumbnail image is taking the whole map down.
Recently, Epic published documentation on this
Thumbnail Image Guidelines for Discover | Fortnite Documentation | Epic Developer Community

Check in Creator profile date when A/B Test finishes

@lookum update
Read this link

hmm I just tried changing both thumbnails to something new, and also only keeping one thumbnail but still getting this error unfortunately:

also tried to archive the map from content service and I get this error: Live link associated with project aaa is published. errors.com.epicgames.content-service.unexpected_live_link
if it can help

On the creator portal the map is unpublished

sorry yeah “Test started Nov 25, 2025 (88 days remaining)”, I don’t think the issue is the thumbnail but a bug in the creator portal when you get your map taken down and have a test thumbnail running

anything on that please, sanction says that I can get back to public by publishing a new release but I’m blocked because of this AB testing going on…

still blocked even after the update… Just need to get someone to force select a thumbnail on my 54 release or cancel it …

I have the same problem, we need help please.

Same issue here.

This issue just happened to me as well by all these steps listed. Glad you are working on it and hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Adding to this, having the same issue today 12-6-2025.

Seems to be unable to Publish a new version while having the previous A/B Thumbnail test active. But I can’t select a winner of the previous A/B Thumbnail test, since it’s from a version of the map that Cannot Be Played cause Violations.

Appreciate the team working on this issue, since I’m stuck here unable to get my game back online and fix those violations. I would say a really urgent issue/bug.

Yes its really frustrating because I had a community that played my map and are now wondering where is it. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I’ll see if I can get an update.
