Properly Testing Vive

I am trying to test my project to make sure that the code I am writing is correct. Is the only way to test that I am successfully tracking the HMD is by using “VR Preview”? It seems that even if I didnt have a SteamVRChaperoneComponent on the character the game still operates fine.

I think the chaperone just gives the player an idea of when he is leaving the play area, and the two events for when they leave/enter. AFAIK.
