Proper way to rig / retarget a custom character to use as a 3rd person character in game

Hello -

I have a rigged character in UE5 that came with 3 assets: character mesh, physical asset and skeleton. I’m curious what the proper method would be to use this asset as a playable 3rd person character in game.

I’ve seen varying tutorials that suggest UE5 to UE4 manakin retargeting methods, Maximo and iclone and I am just looking for the proper method to replace the UE5 manny mesh with my custom mesh.
