Hello, I have a question. I think I have a malware or virus on my pc so I would like to reset my pc and delete all the files. But will it also delete the UEFN projects? And What would happen to all the custom assets inside of my project, I recon it would be unavailable in the project after it’s not stored on my pc anymore. What do you guys suggest, do I save my projects on an USB device or is there better ways to do this? (Also for the custom assets)
Hey @Cerr! Welcome to the community!
Sorry to hear about your PC! The good news is that you can indeed simply copy the project files to a portable HDD or flash drive to save them. Then, after you’ve reinstalled Unreal Engine, place them in your new projects folder.
Now, they may not show up at first in the Epic Launcher, and you may have to launch them the first time by double clicking the .uproject file in your Windows Explorer for them to be recognized by the Epic Launcher, but that should be your only trouble.
As an aside, make MULTIPLE COPIES on your backup drive if you have room. The copy process for any files is not guaranteed perfect, so any extra copies increases your chance of having 0 corrupted-through-copy files.
Good luck, and we hope to see you around again soon!
