I was reverting some local changes in the my project The Halfpipe (5284-0571-0736), and somehow the revision control software sent my entire project back to the initial snapshot! Months of work is gone and it won’t let me revert the project back as all the other snapshots are gone. Is it possible for someone at Epic to get my snapshot from yesterday back?
PS: I tried using this Unreal Revision Control Command Line Interface
and it only lists the initial snapshot of the project
Steps to Reproduce
Open project in UEFN
Check command line to see snapshots
Expected Result
Project should have more snapshots to revert to, only initial snapshot is available
Observed Result
Project is reverted to original snapshot, no way to revert to last revision
Issue update:
Just found a local backup of my project that was run last night, thank the gods that I had set that up a few weeks ago!
I had clearly misunderstood the UEFN Revision system, and I had never pushed the check in changes button so maybe I never even had any snapshots?
Some clarity to how this system works would be good in the Editor I think. Like a reminder to make a snapshot at some points.
Happy to read that you found a local backup of your project!
If you never used the CHECK IN CHANGES button, then no, you never created any snapshots. Remember to check-in!
Your suggestion to remind the user has been noted - thank you!
Thanks for the reply!
Yeah, I worked under the misunderstanding that the revision system was automatically sending my updates in as it seems a lot of the development process is cloud based in UEFN. Obviously I should have read the documentation on this, but maybe a video on FNCreate Youtube or something would be great so people don’t lose their work like I nearly did. Purely because of my own ignorance of course!
Glad you were able to get back up and running, @hellobard. Thanks also for the feedback - we’re working on some more educational content and in-editor reminders to check-in.
