My UEFN project has been locked and taken down. Project reference a9ededdf-4f81-47c0-af90-288fd1cdf836. I received an email saying I should address the following issues of “1.13 Keep it Authentic and 1.3 Intolerance and Discrimination”. I cannot quite understand what may have violated the rules but I cannot even access my project to address it. I have created a support ticket but currently cannot see that the status of my ticket so I have decided to post the issue here. I have seen people with similar issues here and wondering if any staff/admins may be able to assist me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Hi Doh2c,
I don’t know how locking/unlocking of islands is handled, but since you mentioned that you’re unsure what you may have violated: If you post more info about your Island / Thumbnail / Type of experience, I can help speculate as to what may have triggered the lock.
The map is a generic super hero box pvp map with a “meme theme”. I implemented over 50+ powers so isolating the problem may prove to be difficult. If I was to identify the issue, I am still unable to address it as I’m locked out of my project. That is also assuming the problem is rooted in the powers as it could be something else.
The thumbnail can be viewed here : https://fortnite.gg/island?code=3552-6776-3187
Thanks for the link,
From the description/thumbnail: The ‘Ogre’ and ‘Joe’ look like they could be infringing on others IP.
Also, I wonder how derogatory the word “Weeb” is.
So if there’s a large percentage of those 50 powers that are infringing, it might be easier to find a different “Box PVP theme” than to try and clean up the map (If that’s even an option)
The email I received did not mention any of these as issues however I would be willing to change it which I am unable to do currently. As for the powers, they are all generic so I do not see how these would raise red flags while other maps that have been up for months on end that blatantly infringe IP’s stay up.
As for a different themed map, I don’t have access to my device set ups and the thousands of lines of code I wrote in verse. I currently do not even have the option to migrate the assets as I’m locked out.
I just can’t quite understand, if there was an issue with something, why they would they not issue a warning? As I feel that would have sufficed. I would also be able to address the issue and make changes accordingly.
I think a crack-down has begun on infringing maps. (So those maps that have been up for ‘months on end’ should hopefully start disappearing)
Beyond thumbnails/descriptions, I think what could get your map locked is if you include infringing content as images/models/audio files in your map. At that point Epic might be legally liable for hosting the content, so the safest course of action for them would be to completely lock the project.
As for recovering your verse code. They are equivalent to text files, and are located in YourProject\Plugins\YourProject\Content
I understand the generalities of content infringement but I am confident that is not the reason my project was locked. They have not mentioned that was so ever. I also noticed individuals who did receive infringement warnings were able to make changes and republish their map, I do not even have that option currently.
I also know that my verse code is accessible but it is tied with devices both physically and logistically. As I mentioned I have 50 powers and the map set up was quite complex along with the physical play areas/pregame lobby that I have created. Not having access to my level itself is catastrophic.
Any staff able to take a look at this issue please?
Did you get any help?
