Deform mesh with spline

Hello! I am struggling to find a way to deform a mesh using a spline. There are tons of tutorials about splines, but they are not useful for what I want to do. The effect I want to achieve is a long unique mesh with a spline with the same length and the possibility to deform the mesh with the spline. Is it possible? Thank you

In this topic there is a link to a video, an example of how you can deform a spline mesh, but there is no tutorial on how it works. This would be useful to me.
