Problem with VR pawn from VR template, in another project (need help)

I have been running in to a problem with the VR pawn from the VR Motion controller template.
It always works perfectly fine inside the map but If I migrate it to one of my maps or create another map Directly inside the Example and drop the pawn in to it, I end up with my head and hands far apart.
The hands are moving about as they should when I move my hands,BUT the teleportation and hand close anims also stop working.

I have replicated the setup in my custom maps the same as in the example map and added a nav volume/bounds/recast, but I always end up with my hands like in the pic.

I can move around with the keyboard arrows like in FP or editor mode like the camera is NOT tied to the pawn location in the map.
Not sure what I have missed!
