Problem opening old files - Error 5098

Hi, I am working for a company that has been doing photogrammetry for years and has a bunch of old Reality Capture files created under the PPI system and they were not converted back in April 2024 when 1.4 came out.

I do not have access to the employee’s username/account so I cannot open the file and then “save & unlock” as instructed. And there are no online tutorials on how to use the CLI command -unlockPPIProject as instructed from this page.

Is there another workaround I have not found?

”The project could not be loaded because it was created on another computer in PPI mode or anonymous. To open the project please make sure you are online and all other project contributors are registered users. [err:5098]”

Hi @molinski4611

In which version are you opening the projects? Since 1.4 version this conversion should be done automatically as it is not necessary to use PPI credits anymore.

I’m using the newest version of RealityScan. Just trying to open older models created a few years ago.

Can you check the image’s folder and when there is a crmeta file then delete it? Then try to open the project again.

I had a hidden crmeta file in each of my photo folders and deleted each one before trying to open RS, still had the same error.

This is really odd. Would it be possible to share one project and data with us for some internal investigation? If so, I’ll send you the invitation for the data upload.

Yes, I’ll be happy to share this project. Please advise.

OK then, I’ve sent you the invitation for the data upload. It can be in your spam folder.

Hello, I was able to open the projects in 2.0.0.118621 version without any problems. The only issue I had was that I haven’t had all the data (I was missing laser scans), so I opened them just in the viewer mode.

Have you tried to provide the application reset before opening the projects?

I’ve tried the application reset and a clean install, still with the same results. I even made a copy of the working folder without the laser scans to try and replicate your test and still had the error when trying to open. I will email you a short screen recording since I cannot attach it to this thread.
