Quick question from a non-programmer who is trying to assess the difficulty of sim-launching a title on more platforms. Those who have experience with online subsystems; how difficult is it to get online up and running on the EGS, if our main development is currently on Steam, and UE4 is our engine? Is it essentially the same online subsystems on Steam and EGS and the process is simple? Or is it more complex than I’m suggesting? Any insights on cross-platform play as well?
We’ve assessed porting games to other platform like GOG in the past, and online titles always required a lot of work because of the online subsystems. Any feedback on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if the question is a bit broad, but I’m not a programmer and I’m mostly trying to gather info in advance. Thanks in advance!
