Exporting png sequences from Matinee are really slow, where as bmp, jpeg and AVI RGB are fast. Thought it was just frame size but BMP’s are just under 6mb a frame, jpegs about 50kb each so is this a png codec issue with Windows 8.1? Not had chance to try on Linux and mac yet. Engine 4.5.1 & 4.6 Preview. png frames are approx 1mb.
Same problem that I get bored. I am getting really slow render times and color issues! BMP are really huge to store! Jpegs are low quality to store color data. Does anyone has a better solution to export?
Dannington’s got it. PNG’s default packing algorithm is awfully slow. What I do is export to BMP then use a script to mass convert them to PNG in Photoshop. As for saving them more quickly in Photoshop, try SuperPNG. It’s a much faster save!
Ditto here. I’ve been using imagemagick (from cygwin) to convert BMPs. imagemagick is lightning fast; Unreal must be using some stupid-slow compression code.
