TAA and FXAA are both horrible in UE4. FXAA doesn’t even do anything except make the scene look worse, TAA is also unusable because it just makes the scene too blurry, even using sharpening with the tonemapper can’t help the image look more crisp. The only real thing that makes anything look good is no anti-aliasing and setting the screen percentage to 200% but that is obviously not optimal for games. Nothing in-engine without having to change code would be realistically usable for good visuals as much as I’ve tested with UE4. This is true even using 4k textures of assets from Quixel.
If you have any suggestions for getting a good looking image please say so.
