Players sometimes fail to spawn or rounds get skipped in private island with Spawn Limit 1

Summary

Hi, I’m making a 2v2 Zone Wars map in UEFN and I’m having a spawn/round issue that happens 100% of the time in private/public island testing, but does not happen at all in UEFN Live Edit session.

Map setup:

  • 2v2 Zone Wars
  • Total Rounds: 100
  • Teams: 3
  • Team Size: Dynamic
  • Max Players: 4
  • Spawn Location: Spawn Pads
  • Respawn Type: Individual
  • Spawn Limit: 1
  • After Last Spawn Go To: Spectating
  • Last Standing Ends Round/Game: OFF
  • Lobby spawn pads are set to Any Team / Any Class
  • Team Settings & Inventory devices are not overriding spawn settings

The issue:
In UEFN Live Edit session, everything works correctly. Players spawn every round normally.

But in private/public release testing, the round/spawn system breaks every time.

Test:

  1. Two players stay in the lobby.
  2. Nobody enters any team selector.
  3. Both players die to the zone/storm.
  4. Round 1 ends.
  5. Round 2 does not spawn normally. It shows a black “Relocating” screen and the round gets skipped / immediately shows Victory.
  6. Round 3 spawns normally again.
  7. Then the issue repeats again on later rounds.

So it looks like every other round can get skipped after players go to Spectating with Spawn Limit 1.

I first thought it was caused by Verse or Class Selectors, but I removed the whole Verse device and the issue still happens. It also happens without players using team selectors.

This makes me think the issue is related to:

  • Spawn Limit: 1
  • After Last Spawn Go To: Spectating
  • Multiple rounds
  • Private/public island round transition / Relocating screen

Question:
What is the correct setup for a Zone Wars map where players should have only 1 life per round, eliminated players should not respawn during the same round, but all players should reliably spawn again at the start of the next round?

Is there a known difference between UEFN Live Edit session and private/public release with Spawn Limit 1 + Spectating + multiple rounds?

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a multi-round Zone Wars island.
  2. Set Total Rounds to 100.
  3. Set Spawn Limit to 1.
  4. Set After Last Spawn Go To to Spectating.
  5. Set Spawn Location to Spawn Pads.
  6. Use spawn pads set to Any Team / Any Class.
  7. Start a private or public island test with 2 players.
  8. Let both players die to the storm/zone without using any Verse or team selectors.
  9. Wait for the next round.
  10. The next round gets stuck on Relocating, gets skipped, or one player fails to spawn.

Expected Result

Players should have only 1 life during each round, but all players should spawn again normally at the start of the next round.

Observed Result

In private/public island testing, this happens consistently. After players die and go to Spectating, the next round often does not spawn players correctly and can get skipped with a black Relocating screen. In UEFN Live Edit session, the same setup works normally.
