Players intermittently get a high-gravity / cannot-move state on a physics-enabled island - persists across matches until Fortnite is restarted

Summary

On physics-enabled islands, players intermittently end up in a broken movement state: they behave as if under greatly increased gravity, and they cannot move.

The important part is that this state is not cleared when the player leaves. Returning to the lobby and joining an entirely different match does not fix it - the player is still broken. The only known workaround is for the player to fully restart the Fortnite client.

This is intermittent. I have not been able to identify a trigger.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a UEFN island that has physics enabled in Island Settings.
  2. Publish the island and play it in a live Fortnite session (island code: 1114-3520-5951).
  3. Play normally through one or more matches.
  4. Intermittently, with no trigger I have been able to identify, a player enters a broken movement state - they behave as if under greatly increased gravity and cannot move.
  5. Have the affected player leave to the lobby and join a different match, including on a different island.
  6. Observe that the broken movement state is still present.
  7. Have the affected player fully close and relaunch Fortnite - movement returns to normal.

Note: I have not found a reliable repro. It happens at random to some players in a session and not to others.

Expected Result

Player movement should remain normal.

Observed Result

The affected player behaves as if under greatly increased gravity and cannot move.
