We have separated the cloth sections of Mutable into their own plugin, allowing us to expand that functionality in 5.6, so any improvements will happen there.
In terms of potential limitations, they will likely be similar to the current cloth setups, where, when combining meshes, you won’t be able to combine cloth directly into those new meshes and have them be separate materials.
Yes, that is totally fine. If you used something like extend mesh section to attach the cloth to a non-cloth, expecting it to maintain the underlying data that drives the cloth, then that would fail.
