Alright, the issue is that after I switched to DXT5 normal maps, I can no longer use Normals type compression on the normal map textures. I have to switch to Default and when I do, normal maps show as expected, but with **** load of artifacts. Sampler type in the Texture Sample node has to be also switched from Normal to Color.
I don’t know if that’s a bug or a “feature”, but it doesn’t seem right to me.
You’re getting some setting wrong.
When using normal maps, with normal map compression (which is based on DXT5,) and the normal map sampler type (important!) it will work well.
Except it does not, if you tick option Use DXT5 normal maps in the Project settings.
