Picking up items invert item materials

Got a bit of an issue where when i grab an item with the left hand (i have a modified version of the original UE4 motion controller hands that spawns the left by inverting the right hand and not sure if this is the issue) the materials of the object grabbed are inverted. i had worked around this by simply making most of the pickups double sided, but now am trying to utilise an object that can’t be fixed like that, a phone with a screen and widget interface.
any one know why it would be doing this? i actually don’t think it was doing this in my early stages and am wondering if i’ve inadvertently set something that i shouldnt have.

To anyone that has this issue, I accidentally set the attach to component scale to snap to target. it needs to be keep world.
