Persitent god rays when not facing camera


I quite like the light shaft feature to get simple god rays. When used with an animated clouded sky, one can get the rays moving, nice effect.

But, when using this light shaft feature, I have noticed that the effect is not persistent, when not facing it or when the camera is not at the perfect angle.

Do you think of a way to make this effect persistent when not facing the camera ? I’d like to give the feeling the camera literally “swim” through the rays when coming from the outside. .

You would need to use volumetric fog or fake the rays with fog cards
