Preview 1 has been overridden with preview 2 so unless customer support decides do you a favor and send you a preview 1 download file, it is not possible to go back to preview 1 if you've already updated to preview 2.
I have a 3090 and also have issues with pathtracing but the developers are working to resolve those problems. They are not the same problems the original poster has though. The new version of Twinmotion uses Unreal Engine 5.1 which only supports 2000 series and newer Nvidia cards.
Yeah, it's an odd one. Works perfectly for some, won't work at all for others and for myself and others, pathtracing gets caught in an endless loop in the editing/preview window. I have that issue on two machines. One with a 3070 and one with a 3090. The Devs are aware and investigating.
As , there are two situations here. The first is that some older GPUs, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX and QUADRO P-series cards can no longer utilize Path Tracer in the 2023 versions of Twinmotion. This is because these GPUs used software emulated raytracing, rather than native hardware accelerated raytracing, which was leading to increased instability in these GPUs for raytracing applications, and so support for these cards was gradually removed in Unreal Engine 5 and 5.1. If you have one of these graphics cards, you will either need to upgrade to an NVIDIA RTX card or an ADM Radeon RX 6000 series or newer card for Twinmotion 2023 going forward, or continue to use Twinmotion 2022, which will still allow for Path Tracing with these cards.
The other situation, where RTX cards are not able to use Path Tracer is a bug. The development team is working on a finding a solution to this problem. If you are affected by this bug, please submit a bug report here and share a copy of your Twinmotion.log files (Where to find Twinmotion .log file) to help the developers more quickly find a resolution.
I have to say, allthough I have an older GPU it was working super stable with Preview 1 and I was very happy with its perfomance.
If Preview 2 changes the hardware requirements I think it should have been published as a separated versión instead of just an update that overwrites the previous one.
Now I can't keep using it for many jobs.
And to buy a RTX graphic card here, in latin america, is too expensive.
Unfortunately, while 2023.1 Preview 1 was stable for you, we had many cases of high instability elsewhere which placed it a quality below what a full release should have been. In addition, some issues required the upgrade from Unreal Engine 5.0.3 to 5.1 in order to be resolved, including some Path Tracer issues and limitations.
We understand that not everyone can make upgrade to an RTX card, which is why the 2022 versions of Twinmotion will continue to support Path tracer on these cards.
