- Hi, I'm new to the Path Tracing element of TM 2022 and am struggling to get to grips with the Path Tracer constantly refreshing. I've set the animation export settings very high but I'm being delayed by TM constantly refreshing the Path Tracer. Is there not a way to setup the Path Tracer once, then export? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi ,
Path Tracer is applied to the current view of your project on your viewport. Whenever you move around your project, PT will have to restart rendering for the new view you are.
There are several ways to go about using PT. I can give some tips, but in the end you will decide what is best for you.
Option 1:
- Create media
- Toggle on PT
- Quit media mode
- Export
Option 2:
- In the viewport, toggle PT on to test if the results are good, toggle it off.
- Move around your project and do it as many times you feel like it. Just remember to always toggle it of before moving.
- As you go you around your scene, you can go ahead and create the images you desire.
- The caveat here is that when you go check on your images, PT will always refresh since it is not static.
- So, if you want to avoid that, you should go straight ahead and export all the media you have captured.
In summary, you will have to test it out what works best for you.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Francesco
Thank you very much. One additional thought, can I set up all the animation frames as raster, then globally change to PT in the Global Settings section?
I believe it is doable only with the video as follows:
Media > Video > Select Video > Settings > Renderer > Path Tracer from Off to ON

Thanks again.
Not quite the problem the original poster is having, but I'm having the issue where the raytracing on my media is constantly refreshing, despite me not moving anything. I want to preview the image, but after a split second of the render finishing, it refreshes. Any thoughts?
