I’m a Unity3D developer, new to UE.
I was installing a fresh copy of UE4 from the Epic Launcher. I encountered an error that it was unable to install patch data. Now,
there is no resume button for installation
there is no open/launch button for the editor either
The drop-down on the left show’s ‘Not Installed’ has a blank entry in the sub-menu.
The ‘Epic Games’ directory is still taking up 10.1GB space that means installation files are still there
I was able to launch the Editor manually from one oh the sub folders but it didn’t felt right and encountered an error of ‘Patch’ again while creating a new project.
Sorry for the delay in response. It seems like something got corrupted in the download process. Navigate to the PatchStaging folder “C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Launcher\PatchStaging” and delete any file/folders in there. After everything is deleted in that folder go back into the launcher and try the download/update again.
Hey Max,
I tried re-installing from the scratch 2 times till now, But it’s always the same problem. So don’t think Data Corruption would be the reason.
I’m using my University WiFi connection, can that be a reason for this problem? Or is there any workaround? Because in my current situation downloading 4-8 GB data is a bit difficult for me.
It’s possible that if you’re using your university’s WiFi, they may be using a proxy. Cam you check out our troubleshoot page and check out the instructions on how to get debug logs. Post you debug logs and I can see what exactly the issue may be.
We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please follow the instructions that Maximusdb3 posted above.
