Particle effect occlusion


I’d like to use a hollow cylinder (cyl with no end caps) to occlude certain effects - im wondering if this is possible…

(the cylinder would never be visible, id just like to use it’s shape as an occluder)

so, basically, I would have an emitter shooting a bunch of particles in one direction… if you look down into the cylinder you can see all the particles, but if you orbit to the side of the cylinder it would occlude the particles but not the scene’s background geo/objects - is this possible?
