Hey guys…
Simple question… i guess What kind of lighting is paragon using ? Is it using Lightmass or simple dynamic lighting ? Or is it even a mix of both ?
I wondering cause the map is kinda big and backing out that mutch maps/lightmass would take some time and also cost a lot of vram… ?
It’s baked lighting, lightness. I’m sure it takes a while to bake, but the VRAM usage isn’t much.
Posted to wrong thread. Removed.
Paragon uses Lightmaps baked by Lightmass. The build takes several hours on Production, mostly because of the large number of instanced triangles in the scene (something like 40 million) and because artists turn up IndirectLightingQuality as much as they can stand.
@DanielW and @ZacD ok nice, thank you for the information.
Are they any more informations about this topic “paragon lighting” maybe a old training stream ?
Out of curiosity, do you know how many Swarm Agents are used to bake the lighting?
We have a lightmass build farm of 12 machines. They’re super old, they are the original machines we got during Gears of War 3 development when Lightmass with distributed building was first created. Due to the way Lightmass works with a long startup time, having a slow build farm results in very little build speedup, because machines get stolen by another lighting build before they actually get through the startup phase and into the real work.
