Paid Player Cosmetics Not Working – Outfits, Emotes & Cosmetics Failing to Render

Summary

Cosmetics that some players have paid for are not functioning or displaying correctly during gameplay.

Multiple cosmetic-related issues are severely impacting the core gameplay loop of 50 Fashion Show.

Players’ purchased/equipped outfits are frequently not rendering correctly. Other players can appear as flashing blue default skins instead of the cosmetics they have equipped and paid for.

Purchased emotes are also failing to work, and Player Reference Devices can display a default skin instead of the player’s actual equipped outfit.

This is particularly serious for a fashion show experience where players’ purchased cosmetics are fundamental to the gameplay.

Steps to Reproduce

Join 50 Fashion Show with multiple players.

Equip a purchased/non-default outfit.

Observe other players and their equipped outfits throughout the round.

Attempt to use equipped emotes.

Register/render a player using a Player Reference Device and send the relevant signal to the device.

Observe the outfit displayed by the Player Reference Device.

Continue playing with a higher player count.

Note: The island supports 50 players. The session where this was recorded had approximately 25 players.

Expected Result

Players’ purchased/equipped outfits should consistently display correctly.

Other players should be able to see the cosmetics a player has equipped.

Purchased/equipped emotes should function correctly.

Player Reference Devices should display the registered player’s actual equipped outfit.

Cosmetic changes made during gameplay should be visible to other players.

Observed Result

Paid/equipped player outfits are not reliably displaying.

Other players can appear as flashing blue default skins.

Purchased/equipped emotes can fail to work.

Player Reference Devices can display default skins instead of the player’s actual outfit.

Cosmetic visibility appears to become increasingly unreliable during gameplay.

I have tested across every graphics setting, including EPIC, and the issue persists. The footage/screenshots provided were captured with graphics set to EPIC.

Additional Notes

mpact on Gameplay & In-Island Transactions

This directly affects the core gameplay loop and multiple in-island transactions:

Rejoin the Show: Players can pay to rejoin and change their outfit. This loses its purpose if other players cannot see the cosmetic they change into.

Play as the Judge: Judges need to see contestants’ outfits to judge them. The role cannot function correctly when contestants render as default skins.

VIP: VIP allows players to change their cosmetics mid-round. This functionality is significantly affected when those cosmetic changes aren’t reliably visible.

Players are increasingly concerned that cosmetics they have purchased will not be visible to other players, or that they will be unable to see contestants’ cosmetics while playing as the judge.

Additional Notes

This issue appears to be getting progressively worse across updates.

It is now significantly affecting the gameplay experience and has coincided with a strong decline in the player base that I have built up over several years.

50 Fashion Show fundamentally relies on players being able to display and judge their Fortnite cosmetics. Players’ paid items not displaying or functioning correctly breaks the core purpose of the experience.

Please investigate this as a high-priority gameplay and cosmetic issue.
