Packaging error please help

Hi I have built a scene with heavy lighting. Now I want to package that and test on my friend’s pc how it works. But I can’t package it.

When I try to package my project, the error comes up “automation tool has stopped working”. I have tried both packaging for shipping and for development. But neither works. Please help me.

All solutions says that I need to build the unreal engine again from visual studio. But I’m not a programmer that I can do that also I don’t have visual studio. So how can I fix the issue from editor? Or by tweaking any files from pre built engine?

Hi Sohan5005,

Are you able to package a new template project (such as Third Person Template or First Person Template) or any of the examples like Strategy Game or Mobile Temple from the Marketplace?

Try this and see if it’ll package. If it will not package we can start looking into where the problem is.

If it does package, there may be something within your project that may need to be tweaked or adjusted to get things just right.

Also make sure that you have disabled “read only” for the automation tool

I have just created a new project with third person blueprint and tried to package. Got same error. I’ve tried it with also side scroller and other templates which are built with blueprints.

Read only for this file is already unchecked.

Check if in your content you have put a space in your folder. If you have put a space in a folder that won’t package.

I have the same problem and I don’t have a space in any name of the project. The packaging only works when I create a new project and still have “Entry” as my default game map.

I had the same problem pop up last night when I tried to compile my project with the new 4.3 version of UE4. I don’t recall having this issue with 4.2.1

The solutions mentioned are great if your doing a code based game project. Since my project is based off the 3rd person blueprint model, I don’t have the option to change the recompile settings in Visual Studio.

I don’t have any space in any folder or any aseet. I face this issue even I try to package a new project from any template.

My project is based on blueprint and I’m using the version 4.1. Is there any any fix for that. I can’t go to version 4.3 now for some reasons.

One thing I have to say that I have edited the “ConsoleVariables.ini” file to enable the Light Propagation Volumes feature. Can this make the issue for packaging?

I don’t think It could make the problem but again it’s a beta feature. Do I revert the file?

Are you abel to package another project? When yes -> copy all your stuff to a new project and try it again

In my opninion it isnt a bug, because I got the same error and I solved it (in my case I just had to disable “ready only”) :slight_smile:

I had a similar problem when I had no execute permission on /Engine/Binaries/ThirdParty/ImgTec/PVRTexToolCLI

Did you solve the problem? If yes, please post your solution so that I can also try that.
