Package Build Displays Black Materials

Did anyone tried to package a project in 5.7.2?

I’m having a weird issue where the materials display perfectly playing through editor but display black when packaging.

I tried to package a default third person project to see if it was a issue with mine but the default third person project also happing the black materials (mannequin).

Then i tried another computer just to make sure it wasn’t my installation of the engine and also happens in the second computer.

Edit:

Here’s some screenshots of the in-editor and package build.

If someone could please package a 5.7.2 project and let me know if it also happens to you please let me know.

Something very close happened for me too. Most of the foliage went pitch black in a packaged build. Fine when playing in editor or from Standalone. Cleared Intermediate, Saved, Binaries and DerivedDataCache, no good luck so far.

EDIT

And when I launched the same executable another time, almost everything became black, except for the sky and water. Could be an interesting art style, btw

Thanks for confirming, looks like they broke unreal engine 5.7.2

you use engine/fab materials? look at log.

If you look at the first screenshot it’s Unreal Engine default third person which also have issues on the package so it have nothing to do with FAB or third party assets.

But i noticed that changing graphic settings it update some materials sometimes…

I don’t know, what i know is i have a customer that wanted a demo before buy the template and i can’t package him a demo so i wanted to make sure if it is a Unreal Engine issue or not which it proves it is.

Unreal Engine 5.6 works great, only happens in 5.7.2

default template also uses Engine materials fab/intersomething, which often breaks when running on LED walls and packaged builds (since ~~5.5) defaults to black

I see what you’re saying about the engine materials, but what i mean is i don’t think it’s a material issue “itself” and here’s why:

If you see the first screenshot (ignoring the green material), notice how walls and floor use that gray grid material. Now look at the second screenshot and notice how the floor is black (should be gray grid material)… if it was a material problem since walls and floor use the same material wouldn’t the walls be black also?

Also in my example. Please notice how in the second screenshot his clothes are all black too. Even though the material is extremely simple. Literally a single parameter, no textures at all.

Just upgraded to version 5.7.3. Deleted Build, Binaries, Saved, Intermediate and DerivedDataCache, then packaged again. The issue is gone. All textures and materials are fine:
