outiner visual dupliates and weird lighting issue 5.4


For one, not really for this area but woud rather keep these questions central- in 5.4 I get duplicates of all lighting components,no idea, is this a bug in 5.4 atm ?

also seemingly related to shadows as with them off this weird mottling on terrain goes away-= as you can see from picture I get this weird shadow mottling- and btw, again no idea as I’m not getting any of this in 5.3 - volumetric clouds look terrible, and I can’t get any BLUE skys no matter what settings I use. I use lumen and nanite btw.

Hey there @neighborlee! How is the duplication happening? Just visually or do you see the components? Is all of your lighting realtime or any built?

No idea how its happening,short of ticking something accidentally in project settings or keycombo ? Never seen this in 5.3, so I suspect a 5.4 BUG.

I see the components every start of engine. On start they are back even though I save project before exit.

Using dynamic lighting, and yes build lighting here and there thinking it might fix it, never does.

Ahh so there are actual components in the outliner. That’s interesting! Are they grayed out or active/functional/editable components? Does this occur with multiple projects or just your primary project? Does it affect only this one umap?

They are not greyed out, and significantly affect performance given my ryzen 5 3600 16gb ram and rx 6600 setup. I renamed the ones I have edited for best visuals/perf, so on rebooting engine, the quad dups come back, and I easily know what to delete. That is a workaround lol.

Sounds like an engine bug. Does this occur with multiple projects or just your primary project? Does it affect only this one umap?

Depending on how they interact, it might be a good idea to back the project up and remove the Saved and Intermediate folders from the project folder first and regenerate them.
