Opening up Unreal Automation via the RPC Testing Framework

Hi team,

I previously spoke with Ben Salem regarding his presentation, ‘Opening up Unreal Automation via the RPC Testing Framework’ (covering the RPC framework and its integration with Gauntlet). Ben kindly shared some early access code with me back in October 2025.

I am looking to follow up on this and have a few questions regarding its current progression:

Current State & Availability

  • Is the framework now ready for general public use?
  • Are there any public examples available yet? If not, would it be possible to get private access to a more recent version so I can evaluate and try it out locally?

Production Use Cases

Our leadership mentioned that Fortnite is currently utilizing this framework. I would love to learn more about how it is being applied in a production environment. Specifically:

  • What are the primary use cases and the most valuable things they are doing with it?
  • What do their testing patterns and overall workflows look like?
  • How is the test driver authored and maintained, and by whom?

Any insights or examples you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I discussed with Ben, he is asking which version(s) of the engine you are planning to use?

Hi,

I am using 5.8 right now. I am part of Riot central tech and have a focus on automation and testing across the company, so I am looking at forward looking testing methods and technology. One thing is games with external test drivers.

He should have my email already from our last conversation. So if he wants to talk/share more privately he can do through there as well, but I was just starting of more publicly here,

Regards,

Asim.

Thanks for letting me know Patrick. I did not see any email this morning. I have sent him a email just to remind him of my email address. Thanks again. Looking forward to catching up.

Asim
