Everytime i open it it greets me with this message
Fatal error: [File:D:\build++Fortnite\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\PakFile\Private\IPlatformFilePak.cpp] [Line: 6091] Corrupt pak index detected on pak file: …/…/…/FortniteGame/Content/Paks/pakchunk10-SaturnClient.pak
Welcome to the Unreal Engine Community Forum. That error looks to be indicating a corrupt file. I would recommend reinstalling and/or repairing Fortnite. If it remains after reinstalling the game, the next thing I’d try is reinstalling UE. (Completely uninstall and reinstall in both situations) If this doesn’t resolve it, let me know here. I’ll monitor the thread. Thanks!
Hi, I know that this issue is a bit old, but I am having this exact issue as OP had, even down to the error code.
Using the solutions you provided, I am able to get the game to launch, however this fix does not last very long as after a period of roughly 24 hours, I need to verify the game files again. This takes roughly 15 minutes with how much there is to verify on Fortnite, and as someone who plans on running a program in the future at my center using this, I would like a more permanent fix.
I have tried the following methods:
Verifying the file integrity of both Fortnite and UEFN
Uninstalling and reinstalling both Fortnite and UEFN
Uninstalling and reinstalling the Epic Games Launcher
Deleting the paks folder and recreating it by verifying the integrity of the files
So far, out of my research on this issue, only Windows 11 users like myself have found this to be an issue.
I would greatly appreciate a response, again, apologies for reviving an old thread.
Welcome to the Unreal Engine Community Forum. It’s interesting that the verification resolves the problem and then it reoccurs afterward. Do you run any type of anti-virus, anti-spyware or any type of similar software? (These can be culprits in this type of issue at times)
As far as I know, we do not run any anti-virus software at our center. Another thing worth noting is that after that 24 hour period, UEFN asks to be “repaired” where it restores the corrupted pak files.
I was able to discover that if I deleted the corrupt pak files that the error code lists, I can launch the editor. This takes significantly less time than uninstalling and reinstalling, but still is rather frustrating overall.
The only thing else that is worth mentioning is that we run a software at our esports center that, when signed into that specific windows profile, limits what the user can do to just opening games. This software also allows us to give the users time to play, and they are logged out when the time is elapsed (sort of like the software “GGLeap”, but we use an alternative, “Metactix”. This software does not alter or interact with any of the game files, notably. Furthermore, our software doesn’t support the UEFN anyway, so I would fail to see how those two could interact.
It may not be security software causing the issue. But, when you start seeing an application have a specific file or group of files constantly needing to be repaired, an anti-virus is a fairly common cause of that. That may not be the case here. But, I wanted to check to make sure. I did see some other users who ran into this saying that they went into the directory and deleted the ‘pakchunk0’ as well as the other pakchunk files (1, 2, etc), emptied recycle bin and then it resolved the problem. But, note that I also saw some users saying that they tried this and it made them completely reinstall the game. I’ll check up on some additional information with the team and see if there is any information/updates on the bug being fixed on our end(if it is indeed a bug from UE).
this has been so frustrating. I bought a brand new computer specifically to run unreal engine, and it has never worked. Not once I have had to delete Fortnite and unreal engine and reload it and over and over and over and over it crashes every time it has never worked.
