I am observing this same issue occurring with UE5.6, and wanted to note that it is also occurring with UMultiLineEditableTextBox. The short description of the issue is that due to changes made in UE5.3, programmatically changing the text (ie. calling “SetText”) on a UEditableTextBox or UMultiLineEditableTextBox fails to call OnTextChanged.
I wanted to ask - was the fix mentioned in the linked UDN post just missed/forgotten, or was it decided against for some reason?
Thanks for the report. I was able to reproduce this behavior locally in UE 5.6 as well as in a recent build (CL 45937871) from Main P4 stream.
I can’t confirm whether the fix mentioned in the previous UDN post was intentionally set aside, but since this does appear to be unexpected behavior (and was confirmed by Epic in that post), I’ll go ahead and file a bug report so the Epic team can review it accordingly.
Please note that Epic decides which issues become publicly accessible and the process may take a few days. The tracking link might not work immediately.
I’ll go ahead and close the case now but feel free to reply if you have anything else to add.
