Ongoing Tutorial Series Regarding Game Dev and Integrating Marketplace Assets

I have an ongoing series on creating a Zombie Shooter starting with Michael Allar’s ‘Generic Shooter Sample Project’ from the Marketplace and integrating other functionality and Marketplace assets currently running, and am starting a ‘Top Down Shooter (mostly) From Scratch’ series next week. If interested, you can find these at Creative Breakroom - YouTube. I welcome questions and suggestions.

Tutorial Planning: Trello

Love the tutorials so far, I bought this template and I was disappointed as I didn’t know how to use it to make a simple single player shooter. You mentioned in the 1st video how to turn this project into a single player level without all the multiplayer features, when will this be rolled out?

Thanks
Adam F

Yeah, bypassing the killed, lobby, score board, etc that won’t be needed for single player.

Still without much of a lasting voice, so no new Zombie Shooter tutorial today, but the first of the Top Down Shooter tutorials will go up tonight as planned, as it was recorded prior to getting this darned cold!

The single player will be coming within a couple of weeks for Zombie Shooter. Currently, the changes needed to get a First Person mode working correctly to support extended movement like crouch are the priority, but it won’t be long until we look at the Single Player changes. They’re fairly straightforward and easy to implement.

I also forgot to add Zombie Shooter Part 4 to this thread. Sorry! My youtube channel is always the first place to look!

New series starting up!

Woop Woop!

I’m a big fan of the way you begin your tutorials with a thorough exploration of the subjects to be covered and the skills and resources you will need to be successful with them. It saves a lot of time skimming through the content to see if it is appropriate for my needs. Looking forward to the top down series!

I’m glad to see the enthusiasm! As always, I am open to suggestions on how I can improve. I may not always use the suggestions, but I am open to considering most things!

Unfortunately, my health downturned last night (darned cold!) so I didn’t get the other game engine tutorial up. I’m releasing this one early to try and make up for it!

Part 2 of the Top Down Shooter Series will be posted Friday, two one-off special vids I had worked on prior to getting this cold will be posted over the next couple days, and I’m going to try to record the Zombie Shooter - How to Apply Generic Shooter Sample Project Updates tomorrow to post during the day tomorrow. I cannot promise the last will be completed.
For those new to Mindless Pursuits, I am a survivor of multiple battles with cancer. As a result of a lot of chemo-induced nausea, I have a lot of scar tissue in my throat and some in my larynx. The cold inflamed this scar tissue, and having to run the A/C here in Minnesota has made the air so dry that it is irritating the tissue even more. I was prescribed a couple of anti-inflammatories today, but they may take a couple of days to work and I was told not to stress my voice, so I’m trying to take it easy.
Regardless, things will go back onto the regular schedule beginning Monday, as this medicine should allow me to get back to recording by the weekend (I hope), and if not - I’ll use the robot voice temporarily and redub the videos as soon as I can.
I apologize for the issues!

I kind of have my voice back, so here’s a new Zombie Shooter tutorial, this time showing you how to update the Generic Shooter Sample Project package that we used as our base!
