Offline Installer Error Code 5

Hi,

We are struggling to install Unreal Engine 5.5 and 4.26 using the offline installer. After installing the zip file, extracting it and running the .msi installer file the wizard pops up, when attempting to install the programme in the wizard I get a series of Errors in the log with Error Code 5.

The exact error is:

MSI (s) (B4:5C) [17:03:41:674]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSIC577.tmp, Entrypoint: ExtractComponent

Error. Failed to attach console to process. Error Code: 5

Error. 7z.exe returned exit code: 0

We are not sure if this is a Windows Permission error, which our cyber and IT can’t see any reason that it is or an issue with the installer.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi William,

That looks like a permission issue. Are you running the program as Administrator? From the Explorer, the option should be in the right-click popup menu. If you want to run the installer from a command line, search for “cmd” and the option should be available in the options to lauch the Command Prompt.
