Octahedral Imposters used as Volumetrics (Experiment)

Here’s a test I did, using imposters as volumes (kind of like how Phoenix FD makes viewport realtime feedback possible?)

Well Ryan Brooks did most of the work :smiley: i just fiddled with the shader a bit :slight_smile: I planned on doing some blurring of the textures to get the soft edges, but the mesh distance fields does that for you when you shift from masked to translucent blend mode. I still havn’t figured out how to get the baked material to work without being a LOD though. When I apply the baked material with the baked texture to a plane it just becomes invisible

Crazy cheap AND more art directable than the fancy raymarching stuff. Awesome work!
