OCIO INVALID

I’ve opened a project created in UE 5.2 with 5.7 and the viewport screen is covered with OCIO INVALID. I’ve learned this has something to do with color space, but I can find no videos or articles about how to fix this. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello there @Seanoskea!

Checking around the community, considering you migrated an old project, it’s possible that certain elements stopped working properly, or they have missing references. First of all, make sure that the OCIO plugin is enabled in your 5.7 install:

Next, if you only want to get rid of the error, you can simply disable OCIO Display from the View Mode menu:

On the other hand, if you are working with OCIO, the link with your OCIO config asset is probably broken. Searching and re-binding it from the same menu in the previous step should do the trick:

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Thanks.

Yes OCIO was installed. Although I don’t recall ever using it in the old 5.3 project. I found a somewhat related YouTube tutorial and blindly followed along making a NewOpenColorConfiguration. Adding a Rec 709 and ACEScg Color space. and then a Rec 709 ACES 1. 0 SDR Video and a Display for Display views. That was the only combination that got rid of the screen overlay. The lighting intensity plummeted but I was able to add a few more light and get what I needed. I was not aware of the check box at the bottom of the view menu. Turning that off put everything back to normal. I have no memory of implementing the OCIO color space in the old project. Still confused but thank you.
