So, after struggling for weeks with various lighting issues I made the decision to just go full-on raytracing. And while this has fixed 90% of the problems I had, I’ve got a few quirks to work through still. One that’s being super weird to me is this. I’ve got these drink coolers and while the image maps are a bit bright, they look fine. But if I move the camera behind the glass of the doors, suddenly my image maps are really dark/black, and the bottle caps have gone black as well. However, the reflections of these things still look fine! You can see the blue-green caps reflected in the metal above the group of bottles as well as the refection of their image maps below. Plus, the black mountain logo is reflecting the proper yellow in the glass of the door. Weirder still, simply hiding the glass doors causes the image maps and caps to darken a bit, but nowhere near as dark. Any ideas what’s up and how to fix this? Thanks.
