Hi there! As seen in the attached video, when objects are far away from the camera, they appear too bright and then darken as soon as the camera gets a specific distance from object. Someone pointed me to the Post Processing Volume but I can’t find a setting that would fix this. It seems like there’s some distance setting where shadows are simplified or turned off for objects that are a certain distance from the camera. Can I make the shadows/lighting consistent at great distances? Thank you!
Hello,
By the looks of it, it looks like a Lumen issue.
- Are you using Lumen?
- What shadow method are you using? (Project Settings->Rendering->Shadow Map Method)
Create an PostProccessVolume and set the “Infinite Extent” to tick/true.
Now go to Global Illumination and check if Lumen is there as default, if it is go down to “Lumen Global Illumination” and change the distances (default is 20 000). Lumen has an distance of 20 000 units and after that Screen Space (SSGI, SSR) takes over.

- It says I’m using Virtual Shadow Maps (Beta)
Thanks! It looks like Max Trace Distance is the setting I needed to increase in the Post Process Volume. My scene is quite large so I had to increase this value by about 50x and now I don’t have this issue anymore.
Thanks again!!
