Objective Device Gallery Shield Collision Bug

Summary

I’m trying to set up a shield using the cylinder from the Objective Device Gallery, and it’s linked to a conditional button, with the option to have collision only when visible checked on: however, when the conditions are met for the button, and it’s activated, and the shield is visible… there is no collision, and I’m able to destroy what the shield is meant to protect. Not sure what’s going on.

Steps to Reproduce

-Place prop to protect with shield

  • place cylinder from the Objective Device Gallery over the ‘protected prop’ and scale it so that it fully encapsulates the prop within, to act as a shield
    -place a conditional button
  • Objective Device Gallery cylinder ‘collision during games option’ set to- ‘only when visible’
-set user option-function on Objective Device Gallery so that ‘turn on visibility’ is set to the conditional button ‘on activated’
-meet requirements for conditional button and press it to reveal the shield

Expected Result

I’d expect that when you press the button, the shield will become visible and it will have collision, it will protect the prop within

Observed Result

when you press the button, the shield will be visible but will have no collision and won’t protect the prop within

Hello Roji,

I haven’t tested the ‘Cylinder from Objective Device Gallery’, but I was able to set up a similar system with the Barrier Device. Enabling and Disabling the Barrier Device with a Switch Device.

As far as I can tell, the bug still exists and there is no real solution. You can try the workaround with barrier device, but you won’t be able to use the HUD message/objective options that you have with the objective device gallery, so it’s not a complete workaround

The status of UCB-1270 incident has been moved from ‘Awaiting Validation’ to ‘Needs Triage’.

Thankyou this is a seriously annoying bug for many creators

I found the only way to get around it right now is to have the shield visible in an unseen part of your map attach it to a prop and use verse to teleport the prop to where you want the shield to go and it will bring the barrier shield device to that location too. And remember to hide the prop in verse as well.
