Normal - UEFN - Audio wave form in sequencer doesnt play from cue point

Any audio wave form added to the sequencer will start playing from the beginning of the track regardless of the cue position you move and play. This makes it hard to optimize and polish sounds (especially for dialogues). Would love to start from the position you play from instead (within the sequencer, while previewing from UEFN)

This is dependent on the compression setting of the audio file. Changing the compression type to PCM will allow scrubbing.
This can then be changed back after doing sequencer edits.

That’s odd. I feel we shouldn’t have to do that, even if there is a technical reason behind it. I feel no creator will need this editor functionality. There is no case you d need it to start again when pressing it from any cue point, so why have that in the first place, it feels like a bug atm. And even if we have the choice with compression, why is this functionality I am describing the default behavior? Default behavior is usually the most common use for a workflow.

Leaving those notes here for Epic, because I will be using sound a lot in the future and want this to be looked at ideally. Thanks for the workaround though!

I agree we should not have to do this. It is for file optimizatation reasons but the file should always be uncompressed in editor use so that we have a scrubbable file. UEFN can sort the compression out in the cook/compile stage.

This is a semi separate topic but are the compression settings available in UEFN? I opened one of our SoundWaves and I don’t see any compression settings.

Not anymore
