I cannot seem to get a preview to show in the material editor’s viewport for volume domain materials.
This is really quite obnoxious as i have to setup something in the level that i don’t really want there, and then hit save to see any effect so i cannot tweak anything live about the material at all.
Is there some workaround or something im doing wrong here? I’d gladly edit the engine/editor code itself to fix this. Thanks.
Always been this way. If you can manage to edit the preview scene you can try adding an exponential heightfog with volumetric fog enabled on it, I’m sure that scene is somewhere in in engine files.
I’ve never actually tried this though so I don’t know for sure if it will work.
Obviously, this assumes the volumetric material is for volumetric fog. If you’re trying to preview volumetric clouds or a heterogenous volume you’ll need to figure something else out.
