New Published Island Not Showing UI / HUD Properly on 1st Launch of Game - Only Back to Lobby and Relaunch Works

Summary

Hi there. I have issue that I just submitted the updated version of my UEFN game, which is play.fn.gg/island/5052-0638-8076 (Cars Mega Ramp Paradise Beach V1.7), and when you first launch the updated game, the HUD is not correctly displaying. The player has to exit to the Lobby, and then come back in the game, and then only will it display correctly. This looks to be a issue when the game is matchmaking on your servers.

Can you please look into this as I have submitted the game for Playtesting as well as FCHG Friday and now the game is not launching correctly from the Fortnite app.

I was recording the new launch live, so you can have a look here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fKrqehukEc (At Minute: 3:26 you will notice the remote is on the right, and the icons on the HUD where the two 0 are is not displaying, also, the vehicle fuel and player health is showing on HUD). This is not correct as my settings is not to display these.)

Forward to minute 4:32 where I am RETURN TO LOBBY and then relaunch the game, and then the HUD comes back correctly in minute 6:48 where you will see only on the 2nd launch of game from the Fortnite App is the HUD showing correctly. (See some screenshots attached.)

Additionally, as you note from the video, the matchmaking on the 2nd attempt was taking forever while I was the only player waiting for a match.

Can you assist to ensure the HUD displays correctly the 1st time the player launches the game from the Fortnite Discover? Players is not gonna now otherwise the game HUd is not displaying correct.

Please note I have not had this issue before. And this is the 7th update.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch the game from Fortnite, code is: 5052-0638-8076
  2. Once game loads you will notice the 3 icons on the left indicating the Rank, Total Checkpoints and Total Round Wins are not showing, only 2 zeroes. Then the player health and car fuel is overlapping on the left, and this is not supposed to show because I switch this off in game settings. The player inventory is on right which is also not correct as it should be on the left close to Round wins.
  3. Exit to Lobby and then rejoin the same game. Now, on 2nd join the game UI/HUD will show correctly with the 3 icons on the left, and the inventory closeby.

Expected Result

When you first launch game UI/HUD is not showing correctly after matchmaking. When you exit back to lobby and come back 2nd time in game, the HUD / UI is showing correctly.

Observed Result

Same a above.

I have the hud devices and i also need to return to the lobby and go back in for it to make the hud devices work

Yes! That is exactly the same issue I’m having today. I also don’t see the issue during testing, it only popup in published maps. Love your UI design by the way. Great work!

I was thinking today to maybe forse the HUD Controller to kick in. For example, put a timer for 2 or 8 seconds at Game Start, so once the player is spawned, maybe forse the HUD Controller enabled? I’m not sure if it will work. But I’m going to try it now because I can’t really wait for support to fix it as the game is being playtested and it gives a very bad impression now that I have to tell everyone “hey when you first launch the game it’s not working, just logout and come back in a 2nd time. LOL” Anyways, if you find some solution that works for you, please share.

I have tried to reset the hud via verse and that doesn’t even work. I think what’s happening is the player isn’t getting assigned the correct hud or default hud or something as no matter what you cannot change it to any other hud settings. Even with resetting it via verse it doesnt change if you apply another it does nothing.

They need to fix this as its a huge issue for my map
