NeoFur - Fur, Fibers, Fuzzy Surfaces and more!

Hey there, so Ive noticed what appears to be a bug - if the skeletal mesh component is the slave of a setmasterposecomponent node, the neofur attached to it will render strangely. This does not seem to affect the master, only the slave.

Thanks

Is it possible to create human hair with this?

I am looking for a solution to render hobbit hair :slight_smile: (lots of hair) in a UE4 scene that Im working on. Do you think it will be possible to render human hair in the future? Heres a good example:

@cman2k
Yeah I think that answers that question perfectly, thank you :smiley:

Thanks - for updates do we just stick to this forum? thanks

At the moment you can only control the bending of the hair using one spline, so for random curls probably not (yet)

The trello roadmap says cards might be coming up - could be a solution then

When will version 4.13 update?

@simpple: We’re actively tracking 4.13 and building against it. You can expect a compatible release of NeoFur shortly after it drops out of beta from Epic.

Hey guys.

I sent over an email but got a bit of an urgent 1. Had to upgrade to 4.13 on a project thats happening in a few weeks (event not an actual game launch) for the alembic support and updated media framework since we were having other issues.

Really want to get neofur running in it but we only got the indie license. Is it possible to get an early 4.13 build or will we need to upgrade to the pro package to get the source and rebuild ourselves? If we do this are there any fixes that you would be able to provide quickly if the source doesn’t rebuild?

I Have the exact same request.

Hello,

Is there any plans to add further control to the curvature of the individual strands? I know we can currently add a curve that propagates across all strands, but would like to add some randomness to closer replicate more curly / longer fur

thankyou

Heya,

I sent an email but might as well ask here (I’m sure it’s been asked in the previous 5 pages as well) - What does “compiles for all platforms” mean in the source licence? What platform(s) does the indie licence compile to?

Best regards,
Damir H.

@bswinbanks - Since there are no actual individual strands in NeoFur, this is a pretty difficult problem. The good news is that we’ve added some *experimental *features in our upcoming release which could help with this. We also have it on the roadmap to do some further R&D to come up with a solution.
@DamirH - The Indie license ships with plugins for Win64, Win32, OSX, Linux, iOS, and Android. Is there a specific platform that you’re looking for?

Hey Pete - Yes,I was looking for PS4 specifically. But it’s a good start knowing which ones work. Thanks!

@BLVD-MTL - sent you a PM.

We’ve had some reports from customers with the Pro license about issues with the PS4 right now. It’s on our list to fix for September but we’re still a ways out for being able to support consoles with the Indie license.

You need to buy a new license for each project? that’s crazy for indies.

I agree; in the future it would be better if there was a restriction to $100,000 revenue/yr instead of per-project…

Currently, however, with all licenses you can manually “install to engine”, which makes it accessible to any project using the same build. That should do until the plugin ships with an indenpendent installer.

Any news about NeoFur for 4.13?
