Dropped my Ghostbusters project into Unreal 5 tonight, looking forward to playing with the new Nanite lighting, ray tracing settings and a lot more to come. https://www.artstation.com/gallagher

Stranger Things, kit bash in UE4, I’m about to takle a night time pass now but the Demogorgon is actually freaking me out, lol, I will have to work on this in the day time, haha!! I think this would make for a great game. First person playing as Jim Hopper as a walking sim, what do you think?

More to come soon - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4X8D94

Asteroids Arcade (1979) simulated in Unreal 5

Trying out Unreal 5, so much to try out and learn, loving it so far.

Wow! Such nostalgia! I remember this in the arcade as a kid! There was something so cool about the design of the red buttons at the top! It’s amazing how you’ve managed to render this is UE5!

What was your process? Did you create the arcade machine asset yourself?

Hi [Get_DOVAH_it]

Yeah same, thats why I built it, I used to go down the pier on the beach in Eastbourne and I loved that machine, even when news machines came in over the years I always used to put 10p in and I could play for a long time. The sounds as well make me feel so nostalgic

Yep I built it in Blender as I am slowly picking up the software trying to make the switch over from Maya/3DSmax. I am going to make more machines and see if I can speed up with each creation.

I also wanted to test getting an MP4 playing in UE5, when I get a little time I will see if I can get it a little sharper. It’s also 28K tris which is a bit excessive but hey! its Unreal 5 baby so I guess those days are gone

Hi

I tried a new render today as the last one was real time capture and the difference between the last one and this one is light and day in terms of image clarity.

I adjusted the “Temporal Sample Count” to 64. It did not take long to render (10 mins 4K) so I will crank up the settings tomorrow and play around with the shutter speed and adjust the lighting a little.

Next up I will try path trace.

Ghostbusters HQ in the UE5 matrix demo. More to come soon.

The car is 5.5 million polygons so I have switched on Nanite - Virtualized Geometry. :) I’ve been meaning to bake this model for a long time but I wanted to test Nanite on a hard surface object. This makes the model come in at 162mb. So the materal is just a bunch of world aligned materials, it feels very hacky but fun to play with.

You can’t park that there!

Wow!

It’s so awesome to see your Ghostbusters HQ in the UE5 Matrix demo! Your Ghostbusters HQ holds a special place for me not only for the 80s nostalgia, but also, yours was the first post I clicked on when I was in training as a moderator! :raised_hands:t4:

Queue the music! :notes: “When there’s something strange…in the neighborhood…who ya gonna call?” :ghost: :no_entry_sign:

Nice work buddy I enjoyed watching your work

How many hours did you spend on your work?

Hi Rami-Alhaj

My daughter does Ballet on Saturdays so you can find me sitting in the school canteen with my laptop modelling bits and bobs for this project, I have no idea how many hours…to many. She managed to get into the Royal Ballet School so it was worth those cold winter days sitting in my coat, hat and scarf. Now I will have a different canteen to wait in, if I am allowed in? might have to work in a local cafe?

This Unreal 4 City Pack took me around a month if that helps - City Shops, Modular Urban Asset Megapack in Environments - UE Marketplace

Thanks, more to come soon

Here is a little video in the mean time, I think she wants to buy the ECTO1, she seems to be having a good look around the car

Wow! This is absolutely amazing! Congratulations! :clap:t4: :clap:t4: :clap:t4: Little did you know, your hobby project would come to inspire and awe fans!

I’ll share this tidbit of my personal childhood since we’re both fans of the franchise. I was about 2 or 3 years old when my mother took me to the cinema to see Ghostbusters. I was not afraid of any of the ghosts, but I was absolutely terrified of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! LOL!

BTW, the choice to add the inspired Ghostbusters theme song to your video was excellent, indeed!
