Need Help With UEFN Crashing Constantly (CRITICAL)

Hi, my UEFN keeps crashing at random times. Mainly when importing assets and loading a previous project. Sometimes it’ll crash when saving a project with barely anything in it. My system isn’t the issue and I have one of the best PCs on Win 11 with all the latest updates, but just to be sure I also have my settings on Low/Medium quality, and I even went onto Performance Mode later on (which I can’t even turn off now because messing with my settings now causes crashes I guess). I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled UEFN and Epic Launcher but nothing works… Can someone help me fix this? It is unusable

Hi @INIK, can you reproduce the crash then navigate to C:\Users<Your Username>\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Logs\ and send me the file UnrealEditorFortnite.log in a DM so I can look into the issue? Thanks!

I’d be happy to also provide log info.

If there is any resolution here, can you please let me know. I’m actually having the same exact issue as described above.

Sorry for the late reply @doctorprofessor. If you could reproduce the crash then navigate to C:\Users\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Logs\ and send me the file UnrealEditorFortnite.log in a DM that will be great, thanks!

Hello. Whenever I open the UEFN project ‘learningverse’, it lets me move, place stuff, and do all the things you normally can, but after about 2-5 seconds of loading into the project, it freezes. Then the crash reporter pops up. Can someone help me fix this please?

I’m having the same kind of behavior. 9 crashes in 120 minutes.
As far as I can tell, UEFN breaks on most content that is migrated from UE5, even when using the official migration path. As long as I use the built-in stuff, it’s OK. But, yeah…crashes on saves, deletes, Start Session, everything you want. Even crashed UE5 during migrate.

Seems like you guys are using content that is disallowed. Check the files shown in the content browser, then check them again in file explorer. Is the file count the same? Maybe there is a file that shows on UE5, doesnt show in UEFN, and causes weird behavior. I ve also heard that FAB assets can cause issues unless you remove them from a project, not sure which though.

hey @Wertandrew. I just checked my UEFN project and I don’t have any imported FAB assets or any UE5 assets. I also have all the resolution settings on the lowest and my mode on performance mode. Do you think maybe its a problem with my PC? I have a Dell XPS 8940 PC and a Windows 11 desktop.

what’s your GPU? Without a pretty good GPU UEFN does tend to crash a lot, performance mode never worked for me in the end.

Hmm, personally I d download a driver update software and run it to update all my drivers to the latest version. That usually helps with issues like these.

Yea. I think it is a problem with my PC not being meant for gaming and this kind of stuff. So I could either update the parts or get a new one altogether. Thanks for your help though!

i just started a new map free for all did not import anything. was landscaping and just crashes. The first map i built i tried pushing the limits by importing alot of assests, using lots of in game assest and was only half memory being used and that map crashed too.

I never crash with UEFN. Check your drivers and make sure you are up to date with everything.

I didn’t know what drivers to check.
I updated something in windows atleast my map opened and can work on it again. the first map i really like still crashes tho.

I use “Avast Driver Updater”, its a software that updates everything in my PC automatically. Its paid unf, but its only one button to update everything. If you have the capacity to use (maybe there is a trial), I recommend you try that then see if it fixes your issue. Definitely try to update your graphics card drivers, then if it still issues, try anything on motherboard and BIOS (be careful when doing manually though for those).
