Hi everyone! Please I need your help on this issue when importing VDB into UE5.3 (which is still an experimental feature). The VDB was created with Houdini and when I import into UE5.3, it has a jiggling issue (video 1). I attached the video here:
What I have tried:
At first I thought the UV isn’t static so I did a UV test (video 2 and video 3, I increased the density to make it more clear) but it seems like the UV is correct, it’s static and not jiggling. And with the UV test, I think the volume actor bound is static as well.
Then I though it’s something wrong with my VDB file so I imported it into Blender, but it works fine (video 4)
And the final thought is something wrong with the feature, so I downloaded a free VDB and import that into UE5.3 (with the same configuration) and it also works fine (video 5)
Please let me know if you have any idea how to fix this, or even some other things I should tried. Thanks a lot!
I’ve come across the same problem and found your post and i experimented with exporting vdb out of embergen and it was working fine. Turns out the problem is caused because of the dynamic boundaries in Houdini when the bounding box scales irregularly unreal seem to shift the simulation. an easy fix for this would be using static boundaries while simulating in Houdini. Just switch your pyro solver to use GPU solve instead and set the boundaries manually so you can cover the whole simulation this should get rid of the jiggling problem completely, I hope this is useful if i missed something please let me know.
After stucking with that problem for days, I had to switch back to 5.2.1 and use the plugin for my VDBs instead, but omg this one is definitely the solution, thanks a lot!
