Need help with glass material

I feel this is probably a very simple question for you guys, but when I have a glass wall (A wall with the glass material on it) I get an issue, when I line it up with the floor piece under it I get a stupid seethrough spot on the bottom so it makes that part of the floor that the window (glass wall) is sitting on seethough, I DON’T WANT THAT.

So my question is, how do I make only the front and back faces of my wall see through, and not all faces…

When I tried to add a different material on the bottom face it still made the floor seethrough under it, I do not want that.

Thanks in advance.

A screenshot could help here a lot to understand the issue. As far as backfaces go you can either set the material as two-sided in the material editor or you can model faces where your backfaces are.

Here is a screenshot of what I’m talking about.

Hello OriginalBloodAce,

Thank you for your post. I believe that what you are experiencing is one of the limitations of using BSPs. I recommend using a static mesh for the floor section. I am including a picture of a basic setup similar to yours.

The example on the left hand side contains two static meshes, the example on the right hand side contains two BSPs.

I am also including a link to a discussion in the UDK forum that covers some of the differences between BSPs and static meshes as well as some suggestions on when to use one versus the other. I hope that this information helps you work out your issue.

Thanks,

Yes this /. I almost always recommend relying on bsp as little as possible.

See BenjaminHyder’s answer, after looking at the pic it seems to definitely be a BSP issue.

Thanks alot, guess I didn’t think of that, hell I don’t even know what BSP stands for lol.

Thanks, didn’t think of that, don’t even know what BSP stands for.
